Why the U.S. sees more extreme weather than any other country
The United States experiences more intense and varied extreme weather events than anywhere else on Earth, primarily due to its geographical features. The country’s vastness, two oceans, the Gulf of Mexico, the Rocky Mountains, and other factors create a recipe for extreme weather, from tornadoes and hurricanes to droughts and wildfires. Climate change is making these events more frequent and severe, exacerbating the challenges posed by the country’s geography and human factors like where and how communities are built.
