Full-time Remote Work is Actually Better for the Environment

A new study by researchers from Cornell University and Microsoft reveals that full-time remote work can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 54% compared to working in an office. However, working from home one day a week only reduces emissions by 2%, as energy savings are offset by non-commuting travel and increased home energy use on those occasional remote days. Working two to four days from home results in emissions reductions of 11% to 29%.
