Back-to-Back Hurricanes are becoming the New Norm
Destructive hurricanes and tropical storms could become more frequent due to rising sea levels and climate change, resulting in a higher likelihood of coastal areas being hit in quick succession, according to research published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
The study suggests that in some regions, such as the Gulf Coast, the occurrence of such double hits could happen as often as once every three years. The lead author of the article, Dazhi Xi, warned that what are currently considered extremely rare events could become much more common in the future.
