Warmer Winters Can Lead to Water Shortages in Europe and USA
Europe is witnessing a decline in its snowpack due to warming winters, primarily influenced by climate change, according to a new study. Examining 169 river basins in the northern hemisphere, the research revealed a significant 40-year downward trend in 70 basins, with a crucial threshold identified at -8 degrees Celsius, below which snowpack survives and above which it rapidly declines, affecting water supply and contributing to broader environmental issues.
