US Made Wind & Solar Components Now Cheaper than Imports
A study funded by the BlueGreen Alliance and conducted by Dartmouth and Princeton researchers examines the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act on the US wind and solar industries. The study finds that the 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit (45X MPTC) and clean electricity tax credits provided by the act have significantly reduced costs for domestically assembled solar panels and US-made wind components. Meeting the requirements for the tax credits can result in substantial cost reductions and is predicted to create an additional 4 million solar and wind jobs, with the US solar market expected to triple in size by 2028.
