Lego Fails at Recycling Plastic Bricks, Commits to Finding Other Ways to Reduce Carbon Emissions
Lego has abandoned plans to make its bricks from recycled plastic bottles after two years of testing, citing concerns that the materials would lead to higher carbon emissions. The Danish toymaker had been researching a potential transition to recycled plastic bottles made of PET plastic but found that this material didn’t reduce carbon emissions. However, Lego remains committed to finding sustainable materials for its bricks, with a target to reduce its carbon emissions by 37% by 2032.
